Hi to all of you. I’m so delighted to introduce Hello Hemispheres. It’s our first-ever newsletter—so much is happening that your session just isn’t big enough for all we have to celebrate and share!
(Cues a Celebration Chicken who sprinkles you with confetti.)
Gratitude and Openings
We all know that looking ahead frequently means honoring the past. When I look back, I can hardly believe how far this practice has come. Hemispheres began as a part-time venture in 2019. Today, we’re a full-time practice dedicated to integrated, trauma-informed success—and we just brought on our first-ever paid apprentice. And our growth is thanks to you, because we’re entirely referral-based! I mean it: for every client you’ve sent, we’ve seen an average of four—four!—additional referrals, often within just two years.
So on the occasion of our first-ever newsletter: thank you, thank you, thank you. For sending us your friends and colleagues. For trusting us with your family members. For writing testimonials. For posting them on your social media! One shared in 2023 has referred ten new clients so far. Even the clients who think we have an unhealthy obsession with chicken categories send us folks. I think that says a lot.
Two spots open starting Nov 1! If you believe in the work we do, help make more of it possible by telling folks about it. As always, our consultation is free.
Special Event!
I’ll be hosting a FREE session with Rollin McCraty, Director of Research at the HeartMath Institute, on October 15 at 11 PT / 2 ET. We’ll be talking about the science of coherence and intuition—and how emerging, peer-reviewed research is expanding the scope of insight and tools available to all of us.
Registration is open and free to the public, thanks to sponsorship by the Global Association for Interpersonal Neurobiology Studies (GAINS). A members-only Q&A will follow—and membership is super affordable if you’d like to sign up and stay for that part! (GAINS has a mission to advance the science, practice, and application of interpersonal neurobiology for human health and wellbeing, so your membership benefits extend beyond the resources you get there.)
I hope to see some of you there!!
Making Space for Presence
Each week in session, we find ways for resourced, visionary progress to become a way of life. That’s how we create progress: through sustained, attentive presence with whatever is emerging, and with the clarity we discover about where the emergence belongs in our ecosystem.
This newsletter will highlight resources that help you shape and integrate that presence. The client forms offer you resourceful, structured inquiry in your time between sessions—and now you can find them all in one place. I’ve included an oft-forgotten one you might be grateful to see. They’re at hellohemispheres.com/rooms.
I’ve started calling these “rooms” because each offers you a distinct kind of space for presence in your process. The prompts are designed to create resources, whether you need them for more preparedness, integration, or perspective. You can spend time in these “rooms” on the website, or bring them to your journal, as works best for you. Wherever you choose to inhabit them, they’ll help you get used to structuring your own inquiries, which is really helpful when you need to do it on the fly.
We have more “rooms” planned for the new year, so stay tuned for more on this!
A new “Apprenticeshape”
So… did you know the framework we use in session has a name? It’s true! In sessions, we curate progress using SHAPE—Sight, Horizons, and the Applied Practice of Evolution. And now, we’ve hired an apprentice to learn it from the ground up. This is a feed-two-birds-with-one-scone situation because as she learns, she’ll be curating resources—core principles and tools—to share them with you. We’ll feature them here to help you get more from your time between sessions. She’s just getting started, so stay tuned for more. And you’ll be meeting her soon!
The Mighty Forces
To be present these days is to see that shaping transformation in sessions alone is no longer enough. To transform in the ways our world needs to, folks need chances to see what transformation looks like when it works: where it begins, how it moves, and what it needs to sustain momentum.
With that in mind, I’m “nervouscited” (you can thank our new apprentice for that one) to share our progress on The Mighty Forces, our documentary project exploring lived experiences of discovery and evolution. Through real-life encounters with change, we’ll see how it happens in real time, and talk with clients and experts about what’s making it possible, and what’s becoming possible as we change.
We’re currently in preproduction, lining up our clients and experts, and we've already got some exciting folks on board! If you want to participate, let me know!
A Personal Note
I know it’s a hard time. All of us see that any new paradigm is going to take all the vision and capacity we can create, alone and together. More than ever, the realness of each new “WTF” calls for all the good faith presence we can muster. Locating it can be as brief as a peek to see what might be ‘a little better if’ the picture our brains are using to find resources could be allowed to evolve. The brain of 2025 is a hard-working one, and we can help give it a tangible break simply by modifying the picture.
Many of you know that last week, the applied neuroscience community experienced some harm when of its own darlings showed up unexpectedly in the Downstairs Brain Olympics we’re seeing more and more of. I’ll say more in our next letter… but I want to mention it here to point out that even for the savviest, the key to applied neuroscience is found in the “applied” part.
Hot take: When our embodied language is about seeing red, tearing our hair out, drowning, or catching our breath… it’s a calling for presence from our sight-biased brains. With no option but to draw their maps from what they see, they will surface confusion, anger, grief, fear, or illness, to invite the compassion, curiosity, and mindfulness needed to shape the unfolding.
Travel safely out there. We’ve got your back. And you’re not in these travels alone! Whether you’re currently coaching or in between sessions, you belong to a community of authentic, inspiring, capable, wonderful humans who, like you, are committed to finding resourceful ways forward. And we’ll find as many as we can.
MTFBWY,
Cherie
